Рolotsk Seminar on ecological conditions
In region of the river of Western Dviny/Daugavy and Baltic sea.

In Polotsk in the framework of the international project of tripartite cooperation “Panorama Dvina/Daugava” there was the seminar on the topic “Ecological Situation of the Western Dvina/Daugava River and the Baltic Sea” (24-25 November, 2009). During this seminar the experts from Gotland (Sweden) Lena Kulander and Peter Landergren demonstrated their presentations for the experts from Polotsk. The topics of that presentations were: “Gotland – the smallest country of Sweden”, “The environmental issues of Gotland and the responsibilities of the County Administration Board”, "Implementation of national policies on climate and energy on Gotland: Production of non-fossil fuel - experiences of wind power. Energy efficiency". The Swedish experts told about ecological situation in Gotland and about alternative sources of energy which are now used on the island.
In turn the experts from Polotsk presented information about ecological situation of the Western Dvina/Daugava River and about water supply system and drainage system in Polotsk. They also gave information about the perspectives of the development of energy-efficient technology in Polotsk region.
During the second day of the seminar the participants visited the organization  ”Polotskvodokanal”, where they learnt about the cleaning system of water in Polotsk.
In conclusion of the seminar both sides proposed the ideas of further development of cooperation on the topic “ Development of alternative sources of energy and analysis of the Western Dvina/Daugava River  between Gotland and Polotsk”.
